The Preparations of the Heart

The topic for a recent testimony meeting was: "The preparations of the heart in man and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord"  (Proverbs 16:1)

In the meeting a testifier read a selection called "Balancing God's Qualities" from The Woman's Book of Soul by Sue Patton Thoele. This statement says that a full expression of God cannot be just male, but must express both male and female qualities. These ideas are similar to those of Mary Baker Eddy, who spoke of God as our Father-Mother.

I thought about how Jesus expressed the feminine qualities of compassion, cooperation, patience, nurturing, etc., while not lacking any male qualities or masculine authority.

I was also reminded of a recent discussion I had with two ladies from France, who felt Mary Baker Eddy was the model for accomplishing all that a man would have done in her time, while remaining fully feminine and expressing motherly qualities.  She did not have to act like a man.   Eddy chose to stay with emancipating both men and women from mental bondage rather than taking active part in the women's suffrage movement.  Susan B. Anthony, one of the leaders of that movement, was a student of Eddy.

The English word 'heart' is translated as 'Mind' in Japanese.  Mind, a synonym for God,  is the highest source of intelligence and 'heart'.  Thus, in Japanese, 'heart' (kokoro) expresses a perfect balance of the male and female qualities of God.

Vertigo Healed

I was staying at a guest house beside a hospital where a family member was being cared for. One day I awoke and fell over when I tried to get out of bed.  Everything was swirling and whenever I tried to stand up, it felt like a strong, violent force was pushing me over.

During the next few days, I prayed with the definition of kingdom of heaven from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, (p.590:1)  "The reign of harmony in divine Science; the realm of unerring, eternal, and omnipotent Mind;  the atmosphere of Spirit, where Soul is supreme."

In Revelation we read that John saw the new heaven and new earth while he was imprisoned on the Isle of Patmos.  So no matter where we are, no matter how difficult the situation we are in, we are always in the kingdom of heaven--in divine Science.  We simply can't step out of it because it is everywhere.  No one can step out of the kingdom of heaven because it is the only place--the only consciousness--there is. God, divine Mind, is all.

Psalm 139 (7-10) was also very helpful: "If I ascend up into heaven, thou (God) art there; if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;  even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me."  I was healed.  We all dwell forever in the kingdom of heaven--in the consciousness of God's love for us all.
